Only been awake 11 seconds over here but I think this means he’s the boss of the company now, under bushiroad management. Booking is fine done by Gedo and his committee.
Alright bit more awake and with illicit drugs in me so I can think rofl.
Yeah this is the boss position. Chairman of the board is still Naoki Sugabayashi, and stupid, sexy Tana is running the ship.
I cannot imagine he’ll do worse than Harold Fucking Meiji before Ohbari so it should be a step up all around, plus several Japanese companies currently and/or historically have had a wrestler in this position (like Inoki for example). Perhaps this is a part of the ‘Bushiroad cleaning up house because of how bad Stardom was gimped’. NJPW still struggles post-covid and it took em a long time to start rebounding, so maybe they feel having an experienced and loved wrestler calling the shots may help right the ship since the suits sure didn’t.
Yeah, I don’t see a reason why Gedo wouldn’t still be holding the book. And I think the part-time guy is the one who just took charge of Stardom? So maybe they’re working on corporate synergy between the two companies.
I’m curious why now. Maybe more will come out or someone who follows NJPW more will have more info. I know Meiji wasn’t liked, but all I knew about Ohbari was that he was trying to get them through all the pandemic stuff and working a lot with other companies (AEW, Impact, etc).
This seems like a big deal. Does this mean he’s booking the shows? Or is this just a fancy title?

Now it’s my turn to wake up and be barely awake…
