Man I’m not ready for the Kurt Angle episode.
I remember being a “TNA kid” in the mid to late 2000’s, and thinking that Angle was not human, he would straight up wrestle at 120% the intensity of a normal wrestler during those years.
Around 2009/2010, there were increasing rumors that Angle was seen limping and struggling to move backstage, but when the entrance music would start, he would shake it off, endure it just enough to wrestle his usual style of match, and go back just in time for the adrenaline to wear off.
“No way”, I thought, “he’s still moving as fast as ever, he’s still as explosive as ever, those rumors must be fake”.
Little did I know, not only were the rumors true, but the real toll that continuing to work at that level was taking on him was worse than any rumors could have guessed. In the next 5 years, he aged 15.
He’s a cautionary tale for any wrestler that thinks about mortgaging their body to wrestle at an increased level… Mortgages have brutal interests.
black saturday will be great; i wasn’t watching when it happened but i grew up on nwa, jcp, and wcw so i have a soft spot for it. also looking forward to harley race since i loved him as a wrestler/manager but i didn’t know too much about him otherwise.
I think I’m most excited for black Saturday. I’ve read small things about it, but so little that I’ll learn a lot from that episode.
Same, I know what happened but a nice episode will be good to watch. As for the others, I expect Sandman’s will be funny and New Jack-esque, with ya know…less attempted murder. Chris Adams will be a bit of a trip and I expect Bagwell will be sad and I’m taking bets whether they mention he was a giggalo or not lol.
I wonder if they’ll mention that brief period of time when Bagwell went viral on Twitter for being an old time wrestler who doesn’t have awful opinions about current cultural issues, until it turned out that all of that was being done by a PR guy who then ripped people off on merch and stuff.
IIRC, Nyla Rose and Kidd Bandit got roped into that before it all went pear shaped.
@ImADifferentBird @GeekFTW oof. I missed the part about the PR guy ripping people off.
Yeah, I never watched ECW, but have heard a lot and seen Sandman in previous seasons. I’m sure I’ll learn a lot and happy there’s no attempted murder lol. I’m glad that not all the episodes these days are just depressing.
