If you are running it through Home Assistant- or indeed Apple HomeKit - it’s all local - no data collection
You know what would be useful? A link to the article you’re referring to. I’m guessing https://smarthomescene.com/guides/how-to-build-a-stable-and-robust-zigbee-network/

And it’s fitted properly? Is it completely closed when your neighbour has their extractor on?
I wouldn’t bother with that, I’d instead look at it from the other point of view and think about fitting something like a simple vent gravity flap to your hood outlet, that is closed when your hood is off, and opens when your hood is on. I.e seals the vent to prevent smells.

I don’t disagree.
To be clear, I think the company are idiotic in the way they handled this, but I guess the integration probably hooked into the company’s cloud-based services - so their servers.
Have a quick check and see if Apple has made an AppleTV app available for your TV. I have an 2012 LG TV and found an AppleTV app in its store. I can now Airplay direct to the TV.
If not checkout something like the DoCast app in the iOS AppStore. I think it may stream to Chromecast for you.

carefully configured services on your rpi
I have a back up on an SD Card waiting for the day the SD Card fails. Slot it in and reboot
I only tend to dabble, but I have Home Assistant set up - one example I’m on a flexible electricity tariff which is based on wholesale prices. It chages every 30 minutes. I have an automation that grabs tarrif info. If the price goes below zero (which it does sometimes when the grid has more energy than it knows what to do with, my hot water heaters all automatically turn on.
If you are on iPhone, apparently you have the option to choose between new and old logos
Could you give som examples of where it’s desirable ?
