mac was very popular in academia even before osx. It was like the only place you would find macs in the early aughts.
zorin is great if your lazy. and I am.
Solar winds was a pretty big deal and I would say bigger than the current thing. Although that just strengthens your argument given orion was not open source and they were hacked and the malevolent code was injected into their system essentially internally and had been tested for a bit by the hackers which if their code had been viewable might have allowed it to be caught before becoming such a big deal.
Im pretty glad I got to hear him speak in person.
to be fair the apple II was a fairly common computer in that age (appleII 80’s im talking here not the 90’s stuff). they were like the first things out there and ibm came later and ibm clones came still later. But yeah mac worked for the position in the schools.
