  • Its not because you’re a linux main that this doesnt make sense, its because windiws has soent the last 10 years enshittifying in order to try and take Apple’s walled garden. Once my desktop dies, I’m never going back to Windows, and tbh, if I scrounge up enough to buy a second tower before that, I’m installing linux on that tower, transferring my files over, and then installing linux on my current tower as well

Sure Windows gives you warning, but after a while it FORCES you to install, even if for whatever reason that new branch bricks your computer. I had a good 6 months of that where every time my computer got shut off, it would force the update and fail like 40 times before it finally let me revert and use my computer. There was no way to tell it to STOP UPDATING

Windows used to be alright/tolerable like 3 operating systems ago, each new version takes features away and brings new bugs that are more and more annoying in their attempt to get a slice of Apple’s closed garden pie. Their auto sign in feature has caused me SO MANY headaches when trying to sign in with a different user

  • Steam comes pretty fuckin close though. Valve has its issues with communication and speed, but since all of its employees are also gamers the company frequently furthers PC gaming in ways they didnt need to because Valve employees just wanted things furthered in that category IE built in modding support, digital games refunds, built in control remapping, steamdeck being a linux machine, etc

  • I cant wait to fully abandon windows with my next tower (Already on Linux with my deck) but MacOS is FAR MORE cancer than M$, part of the issue with M$ is it keeps trying to be more and more like Apple

2 edits: I think someone replied to this and then blocked me (or someone I’ve blocked replied to me somehow) as apparently theres a response to this but I cant see it nor have I been notified

    And

Damn, a lot of you apparently want a mega corp have complete control over what what your operating system looks like/does/what accessories you can buy for it if you think Apple is in anyway better than Microsoft. I thought the whole point of jumping to linux was freedom, you have LESS freedom with macs than with PC’s

Especially after Microsoft Updates kept bricking my computer during updates, but wouldnt stop trying to force them, even though every attempt to do so failed FOR THE LAST HALF YEAR. And the only way I could make the update fuck off from attempting to retry waz to turn on and off my computer until it gave up
