I had a friend about 25 years ago who was very much into Quake Arena. His gaming setup ran on BSD. Now that I’ve been gaming on Linux for several years, I’ve really come to appreciate how much work it must have been to get that setup running smoothly in the late 90s. He died a couple of years ago. I sometimes wish I could call him up and get some advice.

I’m surprised Reddit is bigger than Xitter. Is that mostly because people have been leaving the Musk project in recent years?

I switched to Linux on my gaming PC about five or six years ago and tried a couple of different distros. Manjaro was the first one that worked really well for me, and I played through the original RAGE and Mass Effect using that setup, but for the last couple of years I’ve used POP!_OS, after Manjaro broke a couple of times. I’m never going back to Windows, mostly thanks to Proton. Even Elder Scrolls Online works really well using Proton.
