That looks ideal for me too, thanks for the link :)
Do you know if it works offline? So if I start an ebook or audiobook then lose my internet connection, can I carry on with the book?

That looks really handy, thanks :)
I’ve just downloaded Fedora Kinoite to try with my Ventoy drive (I refer the KDE layout :) )
Does it give you a choice at startup, similar to the Grub menu, or do you have to do something to bring the option up?
It depends on the server. Mine is an old Haswell based system, and uses more than 2 watts :)
I haven’t used that module, but I’ve fixed some problems in the past by running npm install in the module’s folder, then either rebooting or restarting the MM software.
I don’t know whether it’s the mirror or the module that causes the problem, but that can help
wanted a new laptop for a while anyways 😋
Always the best reason 😁
Why not just repair the hinges?
Depending on the pay, that’s a nice little scam for someone.
When I was in my mid 20s, the only jobs nearby were basic retail work, and mostly part time. As you can probably imagine, the pay wasn’t great. If remote work had been available then, I could see me being tempted to try this, even if it was just to tide me over for a while.
I’m the kind of person who hates not being able to do something, so I’d probably burn myself out trying to learn how to do the job in between working it, but it would still be tempting.
I think someone just misread what the article says and missed the ‘not’ in ‘need not be expensive’.
You’ve missed the second part of that sentence - ‘UNIX can run on hardware costing as little as $40,000’. The photo is the Finnish hacker making it work on a computer that cost a fraction of that, while drinking a beer. It’s a play on the hold my beer meme.
That’s right, yeah. I’ve already got the NAS and my photos are on it though, so for my case, I may as well use it unless it’s got any flaws or deficiencies :)
I’ll look into that, thanks :)
Any idea how it compares to Synology Photos?
This is one of the reasons why my Windows bootloader is currently broken. I made a similar mistake a few years ago, and now I don’t have the mental energy to make sure that everything’s ready in case Windows screws up again
Ah, that’s good to know. Thanks for the correction :)
The disks will have a different UUID, so will be seen as different devices. I can’t remember what you need to do, but I’m pretty sure that the *arrs have a guide for transferring to a new disk without the files being detected as new.
I use Xubuntu on my media server, and have never had that happen. I get a notification saying that the Firefox snap is going to update in 14 days, but closing the browser, updating, and reopening brings all my tabs and windows back. I get the same if I close the browser and restart the computer, letting the snaps update automatically.
I wonder if OP has got the restore open tabs setting turned off.
Spray - possible. My cleaning people come over once every two weeks and clean windows and blinds as well. This vent happens to be right above a window.
The shape of the stain and the spread of the dots look a lot like a spray to me. The large stain is where the centre of the spray hit, the smaller dots are where it misted out / splashed from the centre, and the neat clear line across the middle looks like the front of the acrylic piece protected part of the back / inside because of the angle of the spray. If it’s mounted the same way up as you’re holding it in the photo, it would make sense based on someone spraying upwards towards the top of the window.
As remotelove said, some chemicals can damage plastics, and that’s what I think has happened here.
I don’t have any better hardware suggestions than you’ve already been given, but I would recommend avoiding Plex.
I get problems with it pretty much every day. Usually it’s the client stuttering and crashing, but I often get the client connecting to the server, but not getting a list of media back.
I’ve bought a lifetime licence, but I’m looking into switching to Jellyfin because it’s so frustrating.
Brilliant, thank you :)
I’m going to give it a go over the weekend and see what happens :)
