I know, but since Programms often ship as tar.gz I still have no fucking clue on how to finally install a Programm from it.

I don’t even know what rpm files are xD. I personally havent figured out how to make use of a tar.gz file.
The Arch wiki is one of the main reasons I use Arch/Arch based Distros. Its so insanely good and after you learned some of the basic stuff and what certain terms mean its a very good resource for doing stuff.
That’s absolutely true. I made the same mistakes and I got absolutely mad.
Can I update it from the inbuilt update tool in Firefox?
Universally regarded as a bad idea on Ubuntu based distros as far as my research goes.
Why?
sudo pacman -S firefox
is also enough. -Syu is for updating.
Luckily I even know 2 persons who are into Linux and FOSS.
That’s also one of my goals. I started recently with contributing to open street maps to complete the entries for my local village.
Yeah, but that’s still not as long,as Debian’s testing phase. You can’t deny it. Updates frequently cause problems. I had this multiple times and literally every Arch User will tell you the same.
Absolutely not. Arch always releases updates, as soon as they are available. This means, that there isn’t that much testing before the release. This can cause lots of problems for the end user. Debian tries to be the most stable Distribution in existence. They Accomplish this by testing a lot. This causes update to come not very often. Debian’s strategy works.
Me after updating 39 packages and therefore killing my audio:
I bet you could describe a problem, tell them to not run that command, and then put the command there to copy and paste and people would still fuck up their systems.
That’s a kinda bad statistic to use. Most games don’t get lots of attention. And since only a fraction of players use Linux even more games don’t get played by Linux players. Those who play also have to make reports on proton, and not everyone does that.
If you really want to know about Linux compatibility, search for the stats of the protondb database. Only 13% are below silver( they either have a bronze rating or are borked).
In most of the cases playing game is as easy ad on windows.
Theres clipea: https://github.com/dave1010/clipea
If it has been done properly you’re right. If this also affected the host machine it is a security issue.
I mean, Google and AI can be really helpful, but you should be able to do stuff without it. Google won’t help you if you have a problem with a customer/company specific problem that requires knowledge about the whole technical infrastructure.
Do I have to worry that I understand to what you’re referring to?
Thx
