If you want to edit, Collabora is the name of the app, it is based on LibreOffice and is officially approved by The Document Foundation. It is developed by one of their certified collaborators. Both qbittorrent and 7zip are FOSS projects that are perfectly available on Linux. There’s actually very few software packages that aren’t also on Linux, but they have a strong pull. Like AutoCad, Photoshop, video editors, DAWs, etc. Is specialized niche software, not everyday software that usually stop people. Also, they are unfamiliar with a workflow to do certain things on Linux’s DEs.

If I want something new I use gnooks. Their recommendations are usually spot on with my tastes. The secret to reading is immediate access. I got an ereader and that multiplied my interest in reading. Without it I wouldn’t read as much as I do.

I do. I track my reading on Storygraph because it motivates me and helps me keep up the habit when I hit a slump or end up with some uninspiring piece. I don’t have to fumble for a new book to read because all recommendations and interests are neatly registered and organized. My progress is tracked and I can celebrate my success. I also have a huge library of digital books, over 2 thousand. By tracking I can keep a log of what I have and haven’t read. Sometimes, after a long while, you forget the names of specific books in series, or where you were last off in a particular author’s collection, etc. It helps with it all. But I don’t connect or share that with anyone. Nor do I feel the need to push it on anyone. Friends and acquaintances are not that into reading as I am and they see no use for a social network about books, and I don’t want nosy strangers rummaging though my reading history.

The Steam helper will run the game on the best possible configuration for the machine, and gamescope can run proton compatibility on Wayland, as long as the game runs on a library that supports it. If the game doesn’t support a Wayland capable library, the game will be run through Xwayland. This is literally how the Steam Deck works. The Steam client not being Wayland is not on itself any limitation on the graphical quality of the games.

Dude, shut up. SteamOS is Wayland. Only the Deck shell (and KDE desktop mode used to) uses X in XWayland mode. But all games run on Wayland. Without Steam massive push of Proton we wouldn’t have the booming Linux gaming scene that we have now. You fucking lot are insufferable, this is why nobody likes Wayland. I’d argue that there’s like 4 ways that 90% of distros work like and even they are extremely similar to each other. You got Fedora, Debian, Arch, and whatever Gentoo users do when they are in the dark in the basement. The rest are niche and weird stuff that not even Linux hardcore fans know all about. Similarly there’s only two desktop things that matter, GTK or QT. Everything else is us nerds nick-picking.

Ok, there’s also nixOS and the new wave of atomic monolithic containerized whatever distros, but they are like, super new and the resulting system is indistinguishable for the end used from the other 4 main.

It’s not. Its actually always been like that. Like I said, this kinds of problems are odd and rare. The real issue is that the most help you’d get from the devs teams is a shrug, as it is an unsupported use case. I actually do have both gtk and qt libraries running and they work nicely together.
