There are many ideological reasons to hate ubuntu but I agree it was a solid choice and still is for people just wanting to get shit done without caring too much for the stuff underneath

Plus if anything Debian is more stringent regarding proprietary packages than Arch. Arch package manager will let you install open source drivers or proprietary drivers equally. If adhering to “extreme” moral values is the joke about being labelled vegan, then debian is the vegan one.

If you read the man page for pacman, it helps. S stands for synchronise, Q for query (local), F is for find (remote), R is for remove. The following sub options (yu after -S) are specific to each main option.
I still stand by the stance that dual booting is better. Especially if you care about smooth performance and don’t have the hardware capability to run a VM smoothly.
