I have kde on my school laptop and gnome at home. I much prefer gnome workflows and unified asthetics but kde is very nice and customizable but easy to break your system with. My only issue with gnome is gnome is sniffing its own farts too much by saying “we dont let you customize or change almost any settings cause were beginner friendly and streamlined. But also we wont give you right click - new file from the box, obviously just use terminal, what are you a beginner?”

While I agree linux has some pants on head stupid shit that needs to change, like right click new file being something you need to diy for some reason on fedora, linux now is better than windows was when I was 10. Most things work, you don’t need to troubleshoot. I remember spending more time troubleshooting games than playing them back in the day on windows while linux desktop didn’t even exist at the time.

There are some issues to work out but majority of them are things that are done differently on linux and you hate cause youre used to windows bullshit.

I’ve been fucking around regedits troubleshooting crashes and bsods for a while and it mysteriously stopped once I switched to linux. Windows gets a pass for having stupid errors that should not be there but linux doesnt.

Changing mouse scroll direction, dealing with deleting some programs or drivers, bunch of other small things, troubleshooting why your game is not running or running badly.

This is true although krita is so good I don’t regret paying 40 bucks to clip studio. Still no good cad program. Freecad exists but its ui and ux makes dwarf forteress seem like a streamlined AAA game.

I stopped having crashes, launch issues and performance issues once I switched to linux.

If I had to count the issues I’ve had on windows that would make users uninstall the os, were it linux, wed be here a while. Linux gets shat on cause users are used to dealing with windows bullshit and issues and problems and errors and crashes and using commands in terminal and going through 20 nonsensical stupid ass control panels and using regedit for basic things. Ive had less issues with linux over the past year than I’ve had on win11 the month before I switched. And unlike linux, win11 issues were not caused by me being stupid.

Most replies are useless anyway. With linux you tend to get useful replies at least.

I have never had ms troubleshoot button or autofix button ever do anything but return “no problems found”. And yes, I’ve also tried it in every one of those 20 control panels.

It is not unfixable. The fix includes writing your own drivers.

That’s right, linux is terrible since you have to use terminal. Microsoft doesn’t have terrible things like terminal. Just copy paste these commands into run.

Reportedly works for many others flawlessly but I just get mad jitter. then again I’m using fedora which might be too new.

I found games i couldn’t get working on windows now work fine on linux. Ss1 runs on linux without tinkering while its hell on win 10 onwards. Xy doesn’t work on w11, runs fine on linux, rtc.

Fedora gnome and i game fine.

If steam deck runs it, linux runs it.

60hz graphics tablet and 144hz gaming trashitor running fine on nvidia. Graphics tablet didn’t even need drivers installed and huion app launched every time unlike windows.

I switched to fedora cold turkey a few months ago and honestly its a better experience than windows by far. As a bonus games that work poorly or don’t work on the os they were made for, work on linux now.

Ubutu sucks really bad. I installed it checks notes 17 years ago and I didn’t even get internet running out of the box. Fedora 41 is just so much better and I can’t see how anyone can argue with that.
