Hey there. Do you also use Arch btw?
Hey there. Do you also use Arch btw?
Dude, you chose the wrong way.
sudo pacman -Syu
Cool, more free stuff! Fresh as a morning breeze.
I’m happy to say “i use arch btw” (actually CachyOS but without most of the weird cachyos-stuff but still using their v3 repositories) for about two weeks now. It’s pretty great so far, no breakages or anything, feels very responsive and updates are much quicker to do, too, because pacman works really fast.
Alongside with Debian Sid and flakified NixOS of course…
Debian sid user here. If it appears now or in two weeks in the repo does not change anything for me as I don’t depend on the changes for my workflows. For Debian Stable I actually demand them to come much later, in a mostly bugfree version. What’s the rush when it probably needs more field-testing?

wlsunset
for wlroots-based compositors works fine, KDE and probably Gnome have their solutions, too
Int 8 would like to say hello. And you better not take too long.
What is this “Windows” thou speakest of? I use grub just to experiment with kernel options and select different kernels without writing too often to the efi eeprom
Needs more Builder Factories and @Annotations
sudo apt-get install firefox qutebrowser
Is “I use Debian sid btw” a meme now? Please? 🥺
Because “sid + nix” is currently a really nice experience for me.
nix-env / nix-channels / nix profile / homemanager ?
My mouse is your mouse (and your mouse is mine)
For those who don’t understand: cage
is a kiosk wayland window manager, which means it only runs one program in the foreground and in fullscreen.
foot
is a graphical terminal emulator.
So the joke here is to run a terminal emulator in fullscreen and kiosk mode on a wayland wm from tty, which, at first sight, looks exactly the same as just tty. So you use wayland for a lookalike tty session, which is a nod at OP’s image which states you wouldn’t run a tty on x or wayland.
(But cage
+foot
has mouse support, nice fonts, can launch graphical programs, etc., and has itself established as a kind of rescue shell for tty-less kernel distributions)
I am not sure I understand. Are you having problems running cage
?
$ cage foot
Don’t forget loadhigh
(lh
) and his friend DEVICEHIGH
and check with mem
the memory layout if anything more can be sqeezed into some unused block lying around…
Floppinux anyone?
Long time ago I had a 3.5" HD floppy disk Linux with graphical user interface and ethernet and some programs on it. But 64 bit and the increased kernel size probably make this difficult nowadays.
