The term “PC” is derived from the “IBM-compatible Personal Computer”, which basically meant it could run pc-dos and it’s bastard child ms-dos - you guessed it, made by microsoft. I too am planning to leave; while the pricing is going up, that’s not really my issue. Support is not exactly helpful these days, and their business services stink - not really, because if they actually did, at least we could find them.
