I can’t test right now, but I do see a cast button on both the app and the web interface. Can you cast normally from other apps?

It is a good question, I had the same when I first heard about it.

I think lots of people keep both installed:

• the default one is good for managing server related things
• this one is good for daily use, especially for any other users you might have

What I liked:

• feels much faster and smoother
• UI is nice and clean
• download manager works nicely, as another user mentioned. You don’t need to open a separate app to play the files

That might be my bad, I saw an update notification and it may have been Droid-ify.

I think it’s also relevant with Windows 10 nearing the end of support, meaning a lot of devices that “can’t run windows 11” are “heading to the landfills” (according to some news articles)

At some point I think I’m going to write a post about nice behaviour here. I have to think about it some more… And this is a diverse place anyways, other people might like different things.

Sometimes we also don’t think about how we could be doing something better. Another thing that comes to mind, which I sometimes forget, is upvoting the post that you are commenting on. Usually if I’m commenting, I want more people to see and join the discussion, but I forget to upvote before leaving the tab

That’s a good point, I try to post a few relevant pieces each time and add context in the post body. Still, not all posts are good and so I’m open to people pointing it out when it happens :)

A lot of my RSS feed is for healthcare content or local news, and those communities don’t have much content otherwise. I’ll see about trying to get more of a discussion going for each of the posts I share

I’m not sure why this particular instance was chosen, but from what I can tell the spammers are doing it for the memes anyways.

The best you can do for now is to keep reporting them. What you can also do is see if there’s a pattern, such as one instance popping up more often than others. Chances are that instance has open signups or something, and lemmy.world (and everyone else) should defederate

I don’t quite understand, is this just the backup file or the file being used? I’d be worried about conflicts if some transfer doesn’t work perfectly, since then it might all break
