I was just thinking about my free oracle server if it would be good for my own lemmy instance?

Have you checked out grav https://learn.getgrav.org/17/basics/what-is-grav
https://github.com/getgrav/grav
I use it just to make simple markdown sites for info like my gaming servers or if I feel like making a random blog post
I usually print these out and put them in a safe deposit box at a bank so I never lose them
I setup nextcloud and just use that to backup my Obsidian notes. But I also use next cloud deck depending on the type of notes or list I’m making
I’ve been using it for almost a year now and it works great. I used to just use a spread sheet to track my bills paychecks and due dates but this made it much nicer
Lidarr might help, like other said you need to start by organizing your library first then look at hosting.
You can sideload newpipe on the TV directly and jellyfin usually. I never had that great experience with steam link so I ended up just running a long fiber hdmi and usb ethernet extender
Like put them in a few threads but don’t tighten then yet until you complete the next step
As someone who works in manufacturing this makes prefect sense and wish more instructions were this clear
Yeah essentials is the low tier business plan
I am using proton essentials plan it gets you ten custom emails that you can use with three custom domains.
So I use one email for my game servers so those services use that then I have another general use email for sending info like recently added plex content or alerts from my server then a few mix and match for random stuff.
Not the cheapest but now I’m also using their calendar which is nice. I don’t use any desktop clients though I prefer to keep as much stuff in the browser
I’ve had good luck getting refurb drives from serverpartdeals. I did get one or two wd red used from Amazon, one was fine and the other I had to return for a replacement
Haha the one I got was like 300 bucks off and when I plugged it in it had 0 hours on it so it was brand new. Been running fine for almost 3 years now. It cane with the warranty and free one year of their online service thing
That’s pretty cool!
Not sure what went wrong with next cloud but it might be worth figuring it out first. I do remember having to look through a few guides. I set up mariadb, redis, and collabora containers along with it for database performance and to be able to edit docs in the browser
Keep an eye on woot.com they have open box stuff all the time for decent discounts
Krita, rawtherapee, dark table, digikam, affinity. Just depends what you are trying to do. If you’re used to photoshop there’s nothing exactly the same and it will take effort to move but I think it’s worth it, I’m still on the journey of learning as a hobbyist and have mostly been using dark table for photo editing
Ohhh that makes more sense, thank you
Ente supports all files that have a mime type of image/* or video/* regardless of their specific format.
so it handles raw images too?
For email and calendar I’D probably look into proton. For other software tools i would start with services people like that you don’t have to manage other than be like the admin and as you go try and find alternatives and self host your own and teat it out. Maybe even something like digital ocean where you can just spin up a droplet that’s presetup for you and learn more and more until you’re comfortable to transition other people to it
